Community Description: Crisfield is a maritime community in Somerset County, Maryland. In 2004 it was one of the communities featured in the Smithsonian Institution’s annual Folk life festival. It is one of the few undeveloped areas on the Chesapeake Bay. Economically depressed with the decline of the seafood industry, which employed most of its residents, it has limited employment options for its residents. The residents of the community have low literacy and educational levels making it difficult to keep pace with the advances in technology. Community Partners |
