The center will not be limited to the residents of the housing authority; it will be marketed to the residents of the town of Crisfield and across Somerset County.

Cyber-town currently has three major programs, Senior/Adult Café, Tot Café and After-school Café.

Senior/Adult Café is open to Adults and Senior Citizens in the community to learn computer skills, job searches and internet browsing. It is open from 11-2:30.

Tot Café is open to daycare and head start programs. The program is geared toward toddlers and kindergarten children to introduce them to the computer and the internet.

After-school Café is available to children and youth ranging in ages from 8-18. The center is available for homework assistance, internet researches, and learning general computer skills.

Community Description:

Crisfield is a maritime community in Somerset County, Maryland. In 2004 it was one of the communities featured in the Smithsonian Institution’s annual Folk life festival. It is one of the few undeveloped areas on the Chesapeake Bay. Economically depressed with the decline of the seafood industry, which employed most of its residents, it has limited employment options for its residents. The residents of the community have low literacy and educational levels making it difficult to keep pace with the advances in technology.
